  6. docs in some other languages than English.

  9. version (like v2.07 or so), DELETE S:HippoPlayes.prefs!

  17. About the future
  18. ----------------

  20. After finishing my 330 days of military service I moved to my own (small)
  21. apartment and started my studies at the Tampere University of Technology.
  22. I have a PC with a direct internet connection (10Mb) and a high quality
  23. sound card.
  24.  
  25. I don't have much interest on Amiga anymore.  Not much is not equal to
  26. none, however.  This small amount will probably be used to develop
  27. HippoPlayer.  Nothing major will be done, like MUIfying the user interface,
  28. creating general MIDI support or MP3 player.  That is, unless someone gives
  29. the needed Amiga sources/binaries that I could include in HiP.

  31. I might do an IT support someday..

  33. I've tried several PC modplayers and they all suck, so I think I'll have to
  34. make a HippoPlayer for PC too someday.  It'll use the MIDAS Sound System
  35. for playing modules.  You know, MIDAS by Jarno Paananen who also made PS3M
  36. and The Player 6.1a.

  44. Pirated keyfiles

  47. There are pirated keyfiles and keyfile generators floating around.
  48. Needless to say this kind of action will not improve my decreasing
  49. inspiration towards the development of HippoPlayer.

  51. I hope you recognize the difference between a pirated keyfile and a real
  52. keyfile.

  58. PS3M versus AHI
  59. ---------------

  61. AHI is great, for those who have a sound card installed.  Otherwise I
  62. suggest you don't use it.
  63.  
  64. The paula routines in AHI use interrupt based mixing.  This means that AHI
  65. will always steal CPU time from you.  PS3M uses task based mixing.  Set the
  66. priority low and PS3M will never steal CPU time from you.  It's often
  67. enough for the music to run with the left over CPU time, so you will notice
  68. no system slow down.  The only drawback is that sometimes when the load is
  69. high the music will not play continuously.
